1. I definitely agree with you that cover design is important. However, I’m guessing that up to now, publishers of Korean lit simply haven’t had a large enough budget to hire a decent designer to work on most of these titles. Let’s hope that changes soon as more attention is gradually paid to Korean literature in general.

2. Timothy,

   My hope would be for Korean books, particularly, the immense number of talented (and un or underempployed or still in University) could be used. A contest, for instance, would have turned up a wide variety of more interesting cover designs than the Dalkey or Asia Publisher ones….
